The
Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border bisects the Tantramar Marshes and
because there are really only a handful of roads that cross from
one province to the other in the Chignecto Isthmus, tourism authorities
have naturally focused their promotional efforts by creating “gateway”
facilities at the frontier along the Trans-Canada Highway. Today Nova
Scotia has a substantial welcome and interpretive centre for this
purpose. As this photo reveals, such efforts are not new. Shown
in the photo is a small roadside tourist bureau with a large relief
map of Nova Scotia depicted on a gigantic sloping panel which visitors
could view from the vantage point of their automobile. |
