here.
You should address correspondence about general admissions
to admissions@mta.ca

also submit a Music Application Form. A printed copy
of this form is included with our Information for
Applicants booklet. We also have two versions of
the form here on our Web site:
- one that you can print out and "snail-mail" to us
is available here.
(This form is in .pdf -- Adobe Acrobat -- format If
your Web browser doesn't have the Acrobat plug-in,
you can get it here.)
- a Web form that you can complete and send to us
electronically is available here.
For admission in Fall 2013, please send your Music
Application Form to the Music Department
by Monday, February 11, 2013. (Please note that
the Department will also consider late applications
and auditions.)
Auditions
If you are a prospective Bachelor of Music student,
you must audition as part of your application. Auditions
are 20 minutes in length, and requirements vary by instrument.
for details. An audition is not required of applicants
for B.A. (Honours, Major, or Minor in Music) programme.
Singers and instrumentalists must perform with a collaborative
pianist. You may provide your own pianist, or
giving us reasonable notice – we can provide one
for a fee of $50.
You may audition on one or more instruments; if you
audition on multiple instruments, we shall schedule
the auditions at separate times on the same audition
day. If your auditions are successful on more than one
instrument, you will be asked to inform the Department
of your choice of Applied Music instrument as soon as
possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Department of
Music with any questions about repertoire, the audition
process, or to arrange a free lesson: music@mta.ca
or (506) 364-2374.
Interviews
If you are applying for the B.Mus. or B.A. (Honours
or Major in Music) programme, you must also have a short
personal interview with a member of our faculty. An
interview is not required of applicants for the Minor
in Music programme.
Entrance Assessment
If you are applying to any of our programmes, including
the Minor in Music, you must take a written Entrance
Assessment. We present information about this Assessment,
suggestions for your university
preparation, and a sample
Assessment paper elsewhere in this section of our
Web site.
