Chamber Orchestra

Comprising students from all departments of the University and members of the local Community, the Chamber Orchestra performs works both for String Orchestra and for a larger ensemble with a variety of instruments added. Professor Danise Ferguson is the director.

Evening Concerts are planned for Tuesday, November 27, 2012 and Tuesday, April 2, 2013, both at 8:00 p.m. in Brunton Auditorium.

Rehearsal time: Tuesday, 7:00 pm-9:00 pm Additional sectional rehearsals tba as needed

Auditions:

Strings (violin, viola, cello, upright bass)
Both new and returning students/community members are asked to play an audition to help us determine placement within the Ensemble, and to aid with repertoire selection.
Sign-up sheets will be posted outside Rm. 212 [ MYB Conservatory ], as well as information forms to fill out and bring to the audition.

Requirements:

  1. Your choice of 2 contrasting short pieces , or movements/sections of a longer work. Approx. 6 minutes.
  2. Your choice of 2 scales, at least 2 octaves. You are encouraged to play each at both a slow and a moderately fast tempo, with 2 different bowings.
  3. Short sight-reading passage.

Monday, September 3 – 1:00 – 5:00 - Rm. 204 [my office]
Tuesday, September 4 - 6:30 – 9:00- Rm. 004 [Band Room]
