Jazz Ensemble

Directed by Linda
Pearse, Jazz Ensemble is a full-year, 1-credit
course (MUSC 1649 - 4649) and credited participation
is open to any student on campus. The Jazz Ensemble
performs three to four times a year and strives to create
a balance between having fun and achieving a high standard
of musicianship. All Mount Allison students are required
to register for the ensemble in order to participate.
The ensemble meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 –
7:30pm, in Brunton Auditorium. Regular sectionals will
be expected outside of this rehearsal time.
Auditions
Auditions
will take place on Sunday, September 2 from
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, September 3 from 1 p.m.
to 4 p.m., 2012 and will be held in the Brunton
Auditorium. Please add your name to the sign-up list
posted outside on the board outside of the music administrative
office (Conservatory of Music, Room MC111). The sign-up
list will be posted form August 20th onwards. Every
participant must audition for the ensemble; these auditions
determine whether you are accepted and your placement
within the ensemble. If you are not sure that your schedule
will permit the ensemble, still audition at this time.
The audition material consists of one chart for each
instrument. These can be downloaded in PDF format
from the links below. You may also be asked to sight
read and perform scales (as listed below). Please only
prepare the measures indicated.
