James G. Code has been teaching brass, theory, and composition at Mount Allison University since 1969; he is also the Director of the Brass Choir and has directed the Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College, and Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Composition from the University of Miami. A performer on both trumpet and horn, in both the classical and jazz idioms, he has been heard frequently in recital and ensemble performances in the area and in the United States, and on CBC Radio. He is a member of Symphony New Brunswick and the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra, and the Fundy Chamber Players. Dr. Code has composed many works for large and small ensembles, and these works have been replayed on CBC, as well as receiving performances from Vancouver to North Carolina. His latest works, premiered in 2007, include Fanfare Chromatique for brass choir; Mt. A. Jump for jazz ensemble, and to be premiered, Alpha-Beta and beyond..., for solo piano; and Study in Nothingness, for the Motion Ensemble.
