Lynn Johnson earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from North Texas State University and a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at the University of Southern California. At USC she studied with renowned collaborative pianist, Gwendolyn Koldofsky and harpsichordist, Malcolm Hamilton. She is also the recipient of the First Prize with Distinction in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium. Her career as a performer has taken her throughout Canada, the United States and Europe as well as on-air broadcasts with CBC and Radio Canada.
In January, Lynn and Edmund Dawe will be launching their recently recorded CD of works for two pianos with concerts in Sackville and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Included on the CD will be works by Johannes Brahms, Maurice Ravel, Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergie Rachmaninoff, Haim Alexander and Canadian composer Clermont Pépin.
Johnson is involved with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association on the national level as a delegate, the provincial level as past president and also in many capacities on the local level. She maintains a very active agenda as teacher, adjudicator and chamber musician. For many years now she has been associated with Mount Allison University as professor of piano and as a collaborative pianist. These collaborations have included many enjoyable performances with students, faculty and visiting artists. Her eclectic interests include photography and cooking.
