Most of the Canadian music contained in this recording has not been recorded before, and the featured work, Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatté's "Rück-Rück" Sonata, is only available elsewhere in a transcription of a wire recording.
This collection is performed by clarinettist James Mark, Professor Emeritus of Music at Mount Allison University, and pianist Penelope Mark, also a former member of the Mount Allison Music faculty. Dr. Mark is joined by percussionist Michel Deschênes, Instructor at Mount Allison and the Université de Moncton, in a recording of Richard Gibson's Montañas del Fuego, written for and dedicated to Dr. Mark.
