SACKVILLE, NB — On Friday, November 17, George’s Roadhouse hosts the Maritime Canada headlining debut of Toronto’s award-winning violinist/singer-songwriter, Final
Fantasy. Final Fantasy is the solo violin project of Toronto’s Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire, Hidden Cameras, Picastro, Jim Guthrie Band). Final Fantasy’s first record, “Has A Good Home,” was released to widespread critical acclaim in 2004. His newest record for the Blocks Recording Collective, “He Poos Clouds,” recently won the Polaris Music Prize as the best Canadian record released this year. Final Fantasy’s live shows have delighted fans worldwide, as the soloist creates his lush, full arrangements with nothing more than a violin, a looping pedal, and Pallett’s evocative voice.
Juno-winning singer-songwriter Julie Doiron will open the show at George’s Roadhouse. Doiron is “the undisputed underground darling of Canadian music.” Her charming, minimal compositions have won hearts worldwide. She also once played bass for local cult legends Eric’s Trip and her vocals can be found on albums from the Wooden Stars, Gordon Downie, Hayden, and more. This show marks Julie’s fresh return from tour; expect a full slate of songs off her impending full-length due out in the spring.
