SACKVILLE, NB — Eight Mount Allison professors were honoured with Paul Paré Excellence Awards at the University Assembly on September 3. These awards recognize a combination of excellence in teaching, research/creative performance, and scholarship.

This year’s recipients include: Dr. Fiona Black (religious studies), Dr. Khashayar Ghandi (chemistry & biochemistry), Dr. Odette Gould (psychology), Dr. Andrew Irwin (math & computer science), Dr. Colin Laroque (geography & environment), Dr. Bruce Robertson (classics), Dr. Stephen Runge (Music), Dr. Erin Steuter (sociology), and Dr. Deborah Wills (English).

Dr. Stephen McClatchie, Mount Allison’s Provost and Vice-President Academic and Research says, “Mount Allison’s professors are some of the best in the world. They come here from around the globe and excel in their own research and scholarly efforts, as well as in bringing out the best in our students across all disciplines. This award is one way we recognize their excellence and commitment to what they do.”

At Mount Allison’s Convocation ceremonies in May, Dr. Suzie Currie (biology) was awarded the Paul Paré Medal, which recognizes contributions of outstanding quality that demonstrate a balanced approach to teaching, research/creative performance, scholarship, service, and outreach.

The Paul Paré Medal and the Paul Paré Excellence Awards were established in 1994 and are funded by the Paul Paré Endowment Fund, established through the generous support of Imasco Ltée. as part of the Mount Allison Universitas Campaign. A strong supporter of higher education, Paul Paré was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Imasco Ltée.
