Fourth-year drama and English student Bethany Dunn is from Lower Sackville, NS.
1- Why did you choose to study drama at Mount Allison?
I knew I wanted to go into a theatre program after high school, but I also knew I wanted a proper Bachelor’s degree that would help me once I entered the career world. Mount Allison’s drama degree offered me both.
2- What do you love most about it?
I love all the opportunities I’ve had at Mount A. I've had more performance experience in the last four years than in my entire life. The opportunities are not limited to just acting though, there are positions in stage management, directing, lighting, sound, and so much more.
3- What makes drama at Mount Allison unique?
At Mount A the students are lucky to experience working with the Crake Fellow in drama. The Crake fellow is a person from the theatre world that comes to Mount A and teaches for two years. Students get the opportunity to work and learn from someone who has worked in the business.
4- Who would you recommend this program to?
This program covers a wide variety of skills within theatre. Also, the practical courses here are very hands on. If you are the type of person who likes to jump in, Mount A is the place for you.
5- Advice for a prospective student looking at this program?
Get in contact with the department. Before I came to Mount A I came on a private tour and met with some of the faculty. Meeting with them made my decision easy. If the Mount A drama degree is for you, remember to push yourself to try something new, and don’t forget, you never stop learning.
