Official War Artist
1944
Colville is sent to the Canadian Military Headquarters in London, England in order to begin his work as an Official War Artist. He is one of the 31 war artists chosen by the Canadian Government. Lawren P. Harris is also selected.
After the war, Colville and Harris both teach together at Mount Allison University. Colville spends the next six weeks in the Mediterranean recording the troops landing in Southern France. Over the next two years, Colville executes numerous works, the majority now in the collection of the Canadian War Museum.
