The Ocean Limited: Montreal to Halifax

This exhibition pairs Eric Walker’s work, The Ocean Limited (East Bound) at Sackville, New Brunswick, August 13, 1998, a portrait of VIA Rail's famed Ocean passenger train, with a series of works from the Owens collection that approximate the train's overnight passage from Montreal to Halifax.

This impressionistic journey is installed parallel to the train providing glimpses of the landscape as it once was and as it is seen today.

With scale backs in service on the Ocean route, this exhibition marks the train at a particular point in time, one that makes us wonder at what lies ahead for this enduring passenger train.
