This publication coincides with the exhibition Gordon Monahan/Seeing Sound: Sound Art, Performance and Music, 1978-2011 held at the Owens Art Gallery from 29 October to 11 December 2011.

The publication includes a foreword by Carsten Seiffarth and Linda Jansma, a transcribed conversation between Matthias Osterwold and Gordon Monahan, essays by Earl Miller, Gabriele Knapstein and Claudia Wahjudi and a video component. All texts are printed in English, French and German.
