The book includes more than 60 exercises tied to one or more strategies of learning -- assessing, collaborating, experimenting, imagining, inquiring, performing-stimulating, and reflecting. Some exercises were originally designed for a specific context (e.g. physics class, corporate team-building retreat), so will often need tailoring. The last section of the book looks at how to improve one's own effectiveness as a teacher.

Explains how to move from teacher-centered to learner-centered instruction. Although a theoretical foundation is provided, the focus of the book is giving practical ideas and advice.

An anthology of 15 essays by 22 authors. The essays address both general issues in faculty development as well as such specific topics as cooperative learning, laboratory teaching, teaching portfolios, and the development issues of new faculty members.
