Canada
Council for the Arts
The Canada Council for the Arts is Canada’s national, arm’s-length
arts funding agency. The main areas of activity are: Grants: funding
to individual professional artists and arts organizations through
a peer assessment process; Endowments and Prizes: fellowships and
prizes to some 200 artists and scholars each year; and Research, communications
and arts promotion. The Canada Council Art Bank, the Killam Program,
the Public Lending Right Commission and the Canadian Commission for
UNESCO are all administered through the Canada Council. |

Province
of New Brunswick, Wellness, Culture and Sport Funding
The provincial government provides modest funding support for the
operations of arts organizations and activities, arts and culture
projects, and cultural industries. Most deadlines are in April each
year.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is
the major federal agency responsible for funding health research in
Canada. It aims to excel in the creation of new health knowledge,
and to translate that knowledge from the research setting into real
world applications by providing funds to over 8,500 researchers in
universities, teaching hospitals, and research institutes across Canada.

The
New Brunswick Health Research Foundation
The
New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) was created in
July 2008 with a mandate to co-ordinate, support and promote health
research in New Brunswick. The NBHRF is an independent organization
governed by a board of directors comprised of key stakeholders from
the health research community in New Brunswick. Provincial funding
is provided by Business New Brunswick. |

Health
Canada
Health Canada recognizes the value of supporting
research in order to discover new and better ways to deal with the
health concerns of today and tomorrow. They fund programs for science
and research activities such as the Health Policy Research Program,
the Natural Health Products Research Program and the past Toxic Substances
Research Initiative. |

Genome
Canada
Genome Canada is the primary funding and
information resource for genomics and proteomics in Canada. Genome
Canada has established five Genome Centres across the country (Atlantic,
Québec,
Ontario,
Prairies
and British
Columbia) and invests and manages large-scale research projects
in key selected areas such as agriculture, environment, fisheries,
forestry, health and new technology development, as well as research
projects aimed at studying and analyzing the ethical, environmental,
economic, legal and social issues related to genomics research. |

CHSRF
The Canadian Health Services Research Foundation promotes and funds
management and policy research in health services and nursing to increase
the quality, relevance and usefulness of this research for health-system
policy makers and managers. In addition, the foundation works with
these health-system decision makers to support and enhance their use
of research evidence when addressing health managemt and policy challenges. |

Networks of Centres of Excellence are unique
partnerships among universities, industry,
government and not-for-profit organizations aimed at turning Canadian
research and entrepreneurial talent into economic and social benefits.

all disciplines such as health, medicine, natural sciences, engineering,
social sciences and humanities. |
