  Summer Student Research Awards
Important Information for Students
  • The program is focused on students with 3rd year standing entering 4th year. Awards will be given to qualified students meeting this criterion, first. Awards will only be made to other students if there are not enough qualified students with 3rd year standing.
  • You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 including GPA from the Fall term in the year of application to be eligible for consideration.
    • If your cumulative GPA is less than 3.5 and you still wish to be considered for an award, you may explain in your Statement of Preparation, any medical or family issues, only, which negatively affected your academic performance.
  • You must achieve a minimum score of 70% against the evaluation criteria in order to qualify for an award, subject to the availability of funds.
  • If you have identified your proposal as being relevant to a Social Policy Research topic and wish to be considered for a supplement (minimum $250 extra), please complete Form 3. Check up to two (2) topics and write a brief Statement of Alignment (maximum 250 words).
    • These are topics that have been identified as being of interest and relevant to the Government of New Brunswick. The research does not have to be carried out in or about New Brunswick, but your outcomes should be of relevance to New Brunswick.
    • A copy of your final report must be provided to the NB Social Policy Research Network as a condition of accepting the Supplement.
    • Social Policy Research topics include: Accessible and Affordable Post-Secondary Education; Accessible and Affordable Transportation; Anti-bullying; Career Planning; Citizen Engagement; Consumer Protection; Democracy; Disabilities; Domestic Violence; Early Learning; Economic and Social Inclusion; Economic Development; First Nations Engagement; Health Prevention and Promotion; Health System Reform; Immigration; Labour Force Development; Leadership; Literacy; Pensions; Poverty; Provincial Arts Policy; Regional Government/Governance; Regional Service Delivery; Seniors; Taxation.
