Safety is a top priority at Mount Allison and we strive to continually maintain a secure, supportive, and equitable environment for all members of our University community. Mount Allison has many resources, which together provide a comprehensive, community-based approach to safety and security on campus.

The security matters committee serves as the primary mechanism for Mount Allison students to ask questions, raise concerns, and share information about personal safety and security on campus. The committee is comprised of those directly responsible for personal safety and security on campus and can be reached by emailing safe@mta.ca

The security office within the department of facilities management completes regular campus patrols and is a resource for reporting personal safety incidents and threats against property. The security office works with local emergency services, provides first response, and supports the student life office. FixIt@mta.ca receives information regarding damage, building access problems, physical problems with buildings, electrical or plumbing issues, and broken or burnt-out lights.

S.H.A.R.E. is Mount Allison’s sexual harassment and assault response and education program. S.H.A.R.E. offers a 24-hour crisis line, confidential advice, access to emergency services, information, resources, and support.

Event services (ESS) works in a receptive, service-oriented partnership with many stakeholders within the University. Event services provides event management support, a visible presence at special events, ongoing promotion of safety, and a preventative approach to the enforcement of University policies while providing gainful employment to University students.

Residence Life at Mount Allison is dedicated to providing safe and secure housing for our students within their house. The residences are locked 24 hours a day and each residence has a live-in don who is responsible for the well-being of every resident. The dons and the residence assistants are trained to respond to safety and security issues.
