University Scholarships

All upper-year students at Mount Allison who carry a full course load and do not currently hold a renewable entrance scholarship are considered for University Scholarships. These university
scholarships are awarded to the top students in each programme at the University.

In order to be considered for a University scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
• Students must not currently hold a Mount Allison Entrance Scholarship;
• Students must have completed a full course load of 30 credits in the previous academic year (September to April);
• Students must rank in the top 10% of their programme at the end of each year.

All qualified students are automatically considered every year. Recipients of this award will be revaluated every year based on the criteria outlined above. The value of a University scholarship is set at $750.00 and is tenable in the academic year stated in the offer letter.

Departmental/Program-Specific Scholarships and Mount Allison Prizes

Departmental and Program-Specific Scholarships
Mount Allison University has a variety of programme-specific scholarships, which are available to qualified students. The recipients of these scholarships are recommended by their professors or Department Heads to the Financial Aid and Awards Counsellor.

In order to be considered, students are encouraged to ask for information from the department within each Faculty. Criteria for eligibility will vary from one scholarship to the next and are managed differently within each Faculty.

Mount Allison Prizes
The Mount Allison Prize Program has been established to recognize student’s outstanding achievement in a specific course or programme of study at Mount Allison. Criteria for selection may vary depending upon the prize. The nature of the prize may be in the form of a monetary award, gift, medal, or plaque of recognition.

Prize recipients are chosen based on their performance and are recommended by professors or members of their Faculty. The recommendations are then forwarded to the Financial Aid and Awards Counsellor in order to process the awards.

Mount Allison is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing financial assistance and financial counselling to help students reduce financial hardship. Mount Allison recognizes the need for financial stability for a student's pursuit of their academic goals.

* Aviation: In the first year of study, the tuition fee is Mount Allison Full-time undergraduate tuition, currently $7095.00 (CAD) for Canadian students, and $14,900.00 (CAD) for International students. In years two to four, the tuition fee is a blend of Mount Allison tuition and MFC tuition. All ground school and flight training is included, as are Mount Allison courses taken in these years. For 2012-13, tuition is approximately $25,000 (CAD) per year for Canadian students and about $30,000 (CAD) for International students. Tuition fees do not include residence accommodation or travel between campuses. Note that tuition amounts are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

** The Communications Fee is mandatory for all students living in residence. The fee of $419.00 provides for local phone, cable TV, Internet connection services and a mini fridge. This fee eliminates the need for a student to request these services, to deal with outside service providers or to pay any hook-up fees and monthly billings. Students simply need to plug in the correct hardware in their rooms and they are ready to go.

*** Mountie Money is mandatory for all meal plans. The initial amount will be loaded into a card account and can be used to purchase food and other services on campus by swiping your student ID card
.

**** The Student Union membership fee includes a supplemental Health & Dental plan and is mandatory for all full-time day students. The plan can be purchased by part-time students upon request. If you would like more information please go to the Student Union website http://sac.mta.ca/ or email sachealth@mta.ca.
