Odense, Denmark, is the city of Hans Christian Anderson, and the main campus for the University of Southern Denmark. The university was founded in 1966 and today has a student population of about 15,000 students. SDU is a progressive educational institution with student exchange programs that encompass the globe. Approximately 170 international exchange students attend SDU each year. SDU offers programs and advanced research opportunities in four faculties: Social Sciences, Humanities, Health Sciences, and Science and Engineering,. It has three campuses: Odense, Sonderborg (Southern Denmark) and Esbjerg (on the west coast). International Exchange students from Mount Allison University can register at any of the campuses, and enroll in any course taught in English for which they have the foundational knowledge. There is also an option to take the Scandinavian Area Studies Programme which combines the teaching of Danish with the presentation of Scandinavian cultural, social, political, economic and historical life. This exchange offers courses suitable for transfer credit for Mount Allison students in most disciplines.
