Getting Here:

Most international students fly into Moncton International Airport (airport code YQM)when they first come to Mount Allison then they take a cab from the airport to Sackville. The cost of the cab ride ranges from $65 to $70. You can also fly into the Halifax International Airport (airport code YHZ)then take a bus or a train to Sackville.


Getting Around:

Once in Sackville you’ll find all the amenities within walking distance of residence. Taxis in town are available with a standard fare of $6 anywhere in town. If you’d like travel around the province or country you can do so by air, bus or train or, if you’re 21 and have a driver’s license, you can rent a car.

Taxis
Taxi fare to anywhere in Sackville is just $6. If you wish to travel into Amherst, NS or Moncton, NB you can pay a flat rate fee. Ask the dispatcher how much it will cost before you commit.

Bus
For travelling long distances you can take the bus. Acadian Bus Lines services much of eastern Canada. The bus leaves from the Irving Gas Station everyday at scheduled times. As a student you can receive exclusive discounts if you show your ISIC student discount card.

Rental Car
You can also travel at your pace by renting a car. You must be 21 years old and have a driver’s license in order to hire a car. Please note that drivers under 25 will have to pay a penalty fee and may be subject to certain restrictions. Shopping

Sackville has 2 main grocery stores and a number of specialty shops. Many of them are located downtown, just a short 10 minute walk from residence. Sackville does not have many of the big box stores found in larger towns and cities and, should you need to buy items such as bedding, clothes or appliances, you may have to go to Moncton or Amherst. The weather in Sackville tends to be fairly warm at the beginning of fall (September to October) with temperatures of up to 18° C (64° F).
