- 1886: school colours are chosen: “cardinal and old gold”
- 1886, Oct.: lacrosse introduced at Mount Allison
- 1887: second University gymnasium is built, on northwest corner of York and Salem Streets
- 1887: first University men’s gymnastics exhibition
- 1887: first prizes awarded for athletic excellence at Mount Allison, in University men’s gymnastics
- 1887, Sep. 27: first intercollegiate game in any sport, baseball, Mount Allison vs. St. Joseph
- 1888, Feb. 18: Ladies’ College students give first calisthenics demonstration
- 1888, May: Ladies’ College baseball club is formed
- 1888: penny farthing bicycle at Male Academy is captured in photograph
- 1889: lacrosse is no longer played
- 1889, Jan.: Mount Allison Rink Association is formed
- 1890: varsity rugby football team plays first match against an outside team, in Saint John
- 1891: tennis rackets are captured in photograph of Academy and University students and faculty
- 1892: cheers and yells for home team are established
- 1892: physical culture is introduced to Ladies’ College by elocution instructor L. Jean Landers
- 1892: first annual physical culture drill is held by Ladies’ College during Closing Week ceremonies
- 1893: Tantramar Skating Rink is destroyed by fire in autumn
- 1894, May: baseball game between University and town (the "Gang")
- 1895, May 24: first Field Day interclass track & field competition is held
