Photographed at 32 Charlotte St, Sackville N.B. on September 5, 2005.  Growing  along side paved driveway  Thumb print mark on leaf and the ocrea are indicated.  The leaf sheath gives the Buckwheat Family the alternate name of knotweeds because of the 'swelling' at the joints along the stem which are thought of as 'knots'.  Also polygonium means many knees or joints which refers to the swellings along the stem at the nodes.
