Position title: Class Officer (Vice-President)

Commitment: Five-year term

Hours per week: Flexible

Position description: Class officers are the individuals who help keep their classes connected with Mount Allison. Officers will work with the Alumni Relations Office to help their class stay involved and engaged with the University. This may include sending letters and e-mails to classmates, or maintaining a class web page.

Class officers will serve as the contacts for their class, help with organizing the class reunions, and assist with class projects.

The vice-president is responsible for supporting and standing in for the president when needed. Some responsibilities may include overall leadership of the class, helping co-ordinate the efforts of other class officers, and acting as liaison between the class and the University.

Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate leadership ability
  • Must be able to work individually or in a team
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have strong initiative and solutions-driven approach
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Contact: The class officer (vice-president) will work closely with the alumni services co-ordinator, the other class officers, and Reunion volunteers.

Training: All class officers will be provided with training in appropriate areas before taking the positions.

Application: All class officers will be elected at their class meeting, held every five years during Reunion.

Note: Class officers have been a part of Mount A tradition for at least 100 years, and the change from "Life Class Officers" to a five-year commitment has been made to adapt to the current needs and desires of alumni and ensure the continued success of this program. Officers will continue to be elected upon their graduation and can be re-elected at their class meeting during Reunion.
