Politics professor Dr. Mario Levesque receives SSHRC funding
Mario Levesque’s recent $224,000 SSHRC Insight Grant will enable him to undertake a large-scale research project focusing on the environmental governance in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. His work, with Peter Clancy of Saint Francis Xavier University, examines the complex and multi-level structure of politics in the Gulf. This funding allows the research to be conducted in a more condensed timeline, but Dr. Levesque is quick to acknowledge the often steady, incremental, and cumulative nature of research work and points to his five-year relationship with Dr. Clancy as a collegial partnership facilitated and spurred by geography, which has resulted in this project. “Not only are our universities in close proximity to each other” as Dr. Levesque states, “but our combined knowledge base, skills and resources allow us to effectively undertake this research.” For more information, see the project web site at gulfgov.ca.
