#PreviewMtA Day is designed to help shorten your “to do” list before Move-In Day and Orientation.

#PreviewMtA Day is a full-day of information and services for new students and their families. Residences will be open for viewing, staff from the Registrar’s Office will be ready to help you with course registration questions, and Jennings Dining Hall will be open for a free lunch!

9 a.m. Registration & Coffee Service
Location: Wallace McCain Student Centre (accessible venue)

Arriving early? The Bookstore, the ID card printing station, and information tables will open at 8 a.m. at the Wallace McCain Student Centre for those arriving early on campus.


9:30 a.m. General Welcome & Concurrent Session #1
Please go directly to your first session of choice: 

  • Session 1: Guide to Orientation 2019: "What will your story be?"
    Location: Dunn Building, Room 113 (Wu Auditorium) (accessible venue)
  • Session 2: The MtA Insider: Everything you need to know before arriving!
    Location: Crabtree Auditorium (M14), Crabtree Building (accessible venue)

10:15 a.m. Concurrent Session #2

  • Session 1: Guide to Orientation 2019: "What will your story be?"
    Location: Dunn Building, Room 113 (Wu Auditorium) (accessible venue)
  • Session 2: The MtA Insider: Everything you need to know before arriving!

11 a.m. View your residence room

View your residence room and explore your residence! Our team will be on-site to help answer any questions you may have.

Locations: Campbell Hall (accessible residence), Harper Hall (accessible residence), Bennett House, Bigelow House, Hunton House, Edwards House, Thornton House


11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Complimentary lunch

Satisfy your hunger with a sampling of our menu at Jennings Dining Hall (accessible venue)! Please see the important information section below if you have special dietary restrictions.


1 p.m. Concurrent Session #3

1 p.m. Music information session
Location: Brunton Auditorium, Marjorie Young Bell Conservatory of Music

Find out how to become involved in music at Mount Allison, whether it is as a Music major or minor or by taking a Music elective course, performing in an ensemble, or attending concerts during the year. All welcome!

1 p.m. Campus Tour (optional)
Campus tours will be departing from the main entrance of the Wallace McCain Student Centre.


All Day

  • Deliver your final transcripts to the Registrar's Office — Student Centre, 2nd floor
  • Register for Orientation at the MASU Office — Student Centre, 1st floor
  • Pick up your Mount Allison Student ID Card — Tweedie Hall, Student Centre, 1st floor *must show a government issued picture ID to get your student ID card  
  • Visit the Bookstore for course materials, to order "Books on Beds" order, and purchase your MtA swag — Student Centre, ground floor
  • Learn more about the Student Union Health & Dental Insurance Plan — MASU Office, Student Centre, 1st floor
  • Meet with our Financial Aid and Academic Advising Office (must be booked in advanced, see below)
  • Explore the Town of Sackville
  • Share your excitement on social media using #PreviewMtA

  • Schedule a meeting with our financial aid and awards counsellor to discuss:
    • Concerns about entrance scholarship criteria
    • Questions about applying for student loans
    • Questions about bursaries: who is eligible and how to apply?
     
  • Schedule a meeting via email with our first-year academic advisor at firstyearadvisor@mta.ca to discuss:
    • Concerns regarding course registration
    • Questions about program requirements
    • Understanding how to apply transfer credits (Post-secondary/AP/IB)
    • Information about academic resources on campus
     

Preview Days for First Generation Students

Are you the first in your family to attend university? Join us for MtA Preview Days for First Generation Students, July 26-27. An extension of our regular Preview MtA Day, these two days of activities just for first gen students will help you familiarize you with university life and the Mount Allison community.
