Bilkent strongly recommends exchange students stay in dormitories in campus, so that they can learn more about Turkish social culture. Dormitories are located within walking distance to the classrooms, laboratories, library, sport facilities, and cafeterias. Accommodation is guaranteed for exchange students upon reservation.
The dormitories at Bilkent consist of 26 buildings with various designs and features, and provide a peaceful, secure, comfortable, pleasant and hygienic atmosphere for more than 4,000 students from diverse backgrounds who have chosen to take advantage of the excellence in higher education offered by Bilkent University. Bilkent's special and standard dormitories, all located on the Main and East Campuses, offer single, double, triple, quadruple, and suite accommodation alternatives for students, at varying rates.
Students will need a "student visa" to enter Turkey. Students should apply for the student visa at the Turkish Consulate in their home country as soon as they receive their acceptance letter. Students should make travel arrangements accordingly, allowing adequate time for their visa to be processed prior to their departure.
Students are required to apply for a residence permit in person within a month of their arrival. This permit is obtained from the Ankara Emniyet Müdürlüğü (Department of Security). The Office of Exchange Programs personnel will accompany the student when they apply for a residence permit during orientation weeks.
Application fee: 100 USD or 75 Euros.
