On October 3, 2014, Mount Allison University celebrated the official opening of our new Centre for the Arts, named in honour of the late Purdy Crawford (Class of '52, LLD '91) — Mount Allison graduate, chancellor emeritus, and prominent Canadian businessman and philanthropist.

One of the top arts education facilities in the country, Mount Allison's new Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts provides specialized facilities for teaching, performance, and creative pursuits in Fine Arts and Drama.

  • $30-million infrastructure investment
  • 50,000-square-foot building
  • Slim, multi-level, modular structure with three distinct areas linked by connecting spaces
  • Includes specialized studios and classrooms, along with office and seminar spaces
  • The newly named Motyer Fancy Theatre, with 100 seats and state-of-the-art sound and lighting

Our goals and aspirations are ambitious; the construction of the Centre will be financed entirely from private funds, which is a testament to the vision and loyalty of our alumni and friends.

You can help support this building project with a gift directed to the Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts. All gifts may be pledged over a five-year period.
