Sandy MacIver (’74)
Dr. Kenneth A. (Sandy) MacIver, Mount Allison’s 34th Rhodes Scholar, is returning as the new director of the Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies.

MacIver has taught at the University of Victoria, Royal Roads University, and Camosun College. He worked in higher education policy units in two provincial governments and has more than two decades of success as a business owner and consultant working with a variety of businesses and non-profit organizations.

“I am honoured to join the Mount Allison community in this exciting role,” says MacIver. “I look forward to working with the University’s many excellent students, award-winning faculty, and dedicated alumni network, as well as the business community, to further build on this strong program.”
In addition to his Mount Allison degree, MacIver also holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Doctorate of Education from the University of British Columbia.
MacIver has produced a number of working papers on the subject of organizational trust and has been involved in graduate thesis supervision. Much of his scholarly engagement centres on experiential learning with client groups. A civic-minded individual, MacIver has been involved with the Victoria Hospital Foundation for more than a decade, and previously, he was involved in the Canadian Association for Community Living.
Established in 2008, the Centre has focused on: adding new faculty to an already distinguished team; developing a wider variety of courses; and providing students with hands-on learning experience through internships, field trips, case competitions, and networking opportunities.
