Dawn MacNutt ('57)
Dawn MacNutt is an artist, weaver, and sculptor whose work is most often inspired by her lifelong love of the human condition, what she describes as ‘the beauty of human frailty.’

MacNutt, who earned her BA in psychology from Mount Allison and Master’s in social work from Dalhousie University, was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts in 2008 and is a member of the International Sculpture Centre, the Nova Scotia Designer Craftsmen (Master Artisan), and Visual Arts Nova Scotia. She served as national director for the Canadian Craft Council from 1983-87.

Leading workshops and seminars in Canada and USA and serving on local and national juries, MacNutt’s career has been the subject of many published articles and reviews, and a filmed documentary.

MacNutt has also given her time and treasure to her alma mater, as a long-time member of the University’s alumni board and 2007 recipient of the Charles Frederick Allison Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the Mount Allison community. She was awarded an honorary degree during the University’s 2014 Convocation ceremonies.
