Position description
The Mount Allison University is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill a seasonal contract position as an Athletic Therapist. The Mount Allison University Athletic Therapy Clinic provides rehabilitation and on field emergency care to the varsity athletes in the following sports: football, rugby, soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball, badminton, and swimming. The clinic provides a busy, diverse, self-directed work environment for its employees. Field coverage is provided for football, soccer, basketball, hockey and volleyball. It is critical that employees of this institution can adapt to a fast-paced work environment that is continually changing and requires the development of new skills frequently. This role may require the ability to work in nontraditional hours, often for extended periods outside the course of a typical working day.
Responsibilities
- Clinical assessment and treatment of injuries
- Functional sport specific rehabilitation programs in conjunction with treatments
- Correspondence with other members of the health care team
- Availability for outdoor games and practice coverage as assigned which will involve evenings and weekends.
- Assist in the training and supervision of our Student Athletic Therapists
Qualifications/Requirements
- Certified Athletic Therapist recent graduates of an recognized school of athletic therapy, attempting the CATA national certification exam in June are welcome to apply
- Show a passion for Athletic Therapy and its role in the Sports Medicine spectrum
- Punctual for games, practices and appointments
- Display independence and initiative and abide by the CATA code of ethics.
- Maintain professionalism inside and outside the clinic as a representative of Mount Allison University
- Effective communication with staff and student-athletes
