The evolution of copyright
Due to changes to the Copyright Act; decisions of the Supreme Court of Canada that have led to an expanded definition of "fair dealing", which details materials for which no licence is required; and a growing reliance on electronic books and journals whose licences fall outside our relationship with Access Copyright, the need for an Access Copyright licence has diminished.
On the recommendation of a Senate ad hoc committee established to examine the role of Access Copyright licensing, the University opted not to renew its licence with Access Copyright.
This decision will affect how instructors prepare and distribute course materials.
The resources on this site provide more information on copyright and how materials may be used.
