spacerBellew, Edward Donald (1892-1961). Born in Bombay, India, Bellew moved to British Columbia and in 1914 joined the 7th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. On April 24th, 1915, near Keerselaere, Belgium, Lieutenant Bellew temporarily warded off the German advance. When reinforcements were surrounded and killed, Bellew and Seargent Peerless decided to stay and fight. After Peerless' death, a wounded Bellew kept on fighting until taken prisoner. He was a POW until 1919.
