spacerBrillant, Jean (1890-1918). Born in Assametquaghan, Quebec, Brilliant won a Victoria Cross for his actions at Meharicourt (near Amiens), August 8th-9th, 1918. A lieutenant serving with the 22nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, Lieutenant Brilliant led numerous assaults on enemy machine gun and artillery placements. Thrice wounded and refusing to leave his command, Brilliant fell unconscious from exhaustion and loss of blood. He died on August 10th, 1918.
