Lawren P. Harris

Boston & Mustangs near the Melfa spacer Lawren P. Harris, Son of Lawren S. Harris of the Group of Seven, enlisted in the Second World War and served with the 3rd Canadian Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment. In 1943 Captain Harris was appointed an official Canadian War artist. Following his return to Canada he became Director at Mount Allison School of Fine and Applied Arts, Sackville, New Brunswick. In 1961 he became a professor and Head of the Fine Arts Department at Mount Allison. In 1975 he was appointed Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts at Mount Allison. In 1976 the University awarded him an honourary LLD degree. Throughout the remainder of his life, Lawren P. Harris continued to produce great works of art.
