The Group of Seven and Contemporaries

10 May to 6 September l

This exhibition draws on the strengths of the Owens Art Gallery's Collection of Canadian art, specifically of works by members of the Group of Seven and their contemporaries. Artists represented in the exhibition include A.Y. Jackson, Arthur Lismer, F.H. Varley, J.E.H. MacDonald, F.H. Johnston, A.J. Casson, David Milne, Mabel Killam Day, Jack Bush and others. One of the interesting and important features of the exhibition is the fact that all but one of the works on display have been donated to the Gallery, a strong demonstration of the spirit of philanthropy on the part of collectors willing to share their work with present and future generations of interested visitors, students, curators, artists, and researchers.
